FYI if you’re autistic and on anxiety meds for an anxiety disorder... but the meds aren’t really working... it’s because anxiety meds treat anxiety disorders... not autism.

What you’re probably experiencing is what researchers are referring to as distinct anxiety, which is anxiety related to autistic brain wiring.

Anxiety meds will likely help with whatever anxiety disorder you were prescribed them for, but they won’t decrease your distinct anxiety... the anxiety that you experience as a result of your unmet needs related to your autism... because they don’t remove or address the things that are triggering your autistic brain. 

So, on meds... your anxiety disorder symptoms may be minimized, but you’ll still be left with unaddressed anxiety... unless and until you figure out what your brain needs, and do whatever you can to accommodate it.
