7 hyper specific signs from my childhood that I was autistic...
1. My 3 or 4 year obsession with JTT and Devon Sawa
2. When I did manage to make friends, it was always with another “weirdo” or “misfit” (how others saw us)
3. I was a goody two shoes and followed all the rules... unless I thought they were silly... then I broke all of those, but carefully so I didn’t get in trouble
4. I prepared literal scrips for conversations I was going to have with a boy I liked
5. I obsessed over boys I liked... sometimes for years
6. If I was asked to do something I absolutely did NOT want to do, I refused to comply with every ounce of my being...
Like the time I refused to pee in a cup at a doctor’s visit and the time I refused to talk to the assigned therapist after my dad passed away... to the point where I would stare our the window and not respond to any of his questions
7. I used to say I wasn’t feeling well to avoid going on field trips and would stay behind at the nurses office the entire day while everyone else was away. And was 100,000% ok with missing it. Even after everyone came back and was talking about how much fun they had.
If you’re autistic, I’m curious... do you relate to any of these?
And if you’re a parent of an autistic child, I’d love to know if this list helped you better understand them.
And as always, if you like this type of content, follow for more. 😊
