Internalized autism is hiding your autistic traits (masking) for self protection, but it causing such intense and extreme inner turmoil that it leads to dangerous and life threatening ramifications.


- Internalized autism is not the same as masking, but it is certainly the result of it.


- Internalized autism is not the same as anxiety either, though it can often lead to it.


- Internalized autism can be, but is not necessarily intentional.


- Internalized autism is turning our autistic traits inward rather than recognizing and accommodating them... and the detrimental impact that internalization has on us, physically, mentally, and emotionally.
