Autism and rejection sensitive dysphoria (RSD)
Did you know that experiencing a debilitating sense of anxiety when criticized/rejected is called Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD) also known as rejection sensitivity?
RSD is an extreme emotional reaction to the *perception* of rejection, failure, or criticism—regardless of the circumstantial reality.
It's also very common in individuals with ADHD, Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and autism.
Note that RSD is not currently included in the DSM and is therefore not a formal symptom of these conditions in the US. Also, research into RSD only really started taking place about 5 years ago, so there is still a lot that is not known about RSD.
