Why autistic girls and women are more likely to be judged for their appearance
As an autistic woman, basically anything that has to do with “looking good" is sensory.
Makeup.
Eyelashes.
Hair care.
Most dressy outfits.
Belts.
Heels.
Which is why so many neurodivergent girls and women struggle to look "acceptable" at school, work, and formal events.
It's also why my mom was told I looked "disheveled" by the school psychologist when I was in high school.
(Boys and men can have this issue too, but society has way more ridiculous and outrageous expectations for how girls and women are "supposed" to look )
(I think I might have strained my eyes from rolling them so hard as I wrote this post )
